SURVEY: 1 In 3 Parents Admit To Giving Chores They Dislike To Kids

Doing mundane household chores may be the least fun part of being a grownup. That’s why 1 in 3 parents admit that they assign the chores they hate doing most to the kids!

Cinch Home Services sponsored a survey  of just over 1,000 U.S. parents to learn just which household chores are the least desirable. 28.8% of parents admitted to giving their kids the chores they don’t want to do themselves. The number one chore people hate to do? That would be cleaning the toilet.

The answers were given as follows:

1. Cleaning the toilet
2. Removing hair from drains
3. Cleaning the bathroom
4. Unclogging the kitchen sink
5. Folding laundry
6. Cleaning the oven
7. Hand washing dishes
8. Ironing
9. Cleaning fridge
10. Cleaning up after pets
11. Mopping
12. Moving furniture to clean behind
13. Cooking
14. Weeding garden
15. Shoveling snow
16. Dusting
17. Cleaning stovetop
18. Changing sheets
19. Unloading dishwasher
20. Cleaning windows

The top 3 chores people are putting off are:

1. Cleaning the bathroom
2. Cleaning the fridge
3. Folding the laundry

This survey also looked at other parts of doing chores.

• 45% of families with one child and 47% of families with two children decided to use a chore chart
• 43.2% of women believed they did the majority of the chores
• 52% of respondents felt they had been spending more time on chores since the pandemic started
• More than half of respondents felt guilty for putting off chores
