Don’t walk and text. That’s the message after researchers found that using your phone to text as you walk is more likely to cause an accident than taking a call or listening to music. Texting was associated with a higher rate of near misses and a failure to look both ways when crossing the road, in the study done by researchers at the University of Calgary. Talking on the phone caused only a small increase in time taken to cross a road safely, and listening to music had no notable impact on pedestrian safety. (And then we have the overachievers who try to do all three!)
