Recent Survey Reveals Quite A Few Pet Owners Are Actually Pet Obsessed

A lot of pet owners love their pets to the point that they want to remember them forever. Two-thirds would get or already have a tattoo of their pet. But that same number also believe that other people would be as obsessed with their pet as they are; with over 60% saying they think their dog or cat could be a viral sensation.

Conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with ACANA Pet Food, the survey also found that respondents are more likely to buy these pet-obsessed products for themselves (49%) than to receive them as gifts (40%).

Popular pet-themed items included:

• 21% clothing
• 19% stuffed animals or toys
• 17% keychains
• 17% phone cases

A third have even custom-designed their own pet merch (33%), and half (51%) are pretty convinced they’d be able to sell it to other people, too.

But even if you aren’t pet obsessed there’s a good chance they come up a lot in conversation. Most (68%) even believe that compared to other pet lovers they know, they’re significantly more obsessed with their pet.

Among those who filled out the survey; the most popular topics include:

• 31% their pet
• 31% their family relationships
• 30% hobbies
• 28% favorite TV shows or movies

And on average, pet owners reckon that 36 percent of all their conversations end up being about their pets. More than half (55%) also have conversations with their pet when no one else is around, and 48 percent have told their pet a secret they’ve never told anyone else.
