In news that may not surprise some, a massive 7 per cent or over 16 million of our friends south of the boarder believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows. This is according to a survey commissioned by the Innovation Centre for US Dairy. It found that millions of American citizens are somehow under the impression that their beloved chocolate milk is a product of only brown cows. When told that it is white cow’s milk with added chocolate flavouring and sweeteners they were not convinced. It gets worse. According to the survey, the 16.4 million believe that chocolate milk can be consumed straight from the udder of a brown cow, and a further 48 per cent were confused and not sure where chocolate milk even came from. For decades, surveys have found people to be consistently uninformed when it comes to basic agricultural studies: where food comes from, how it’s stored, and how it’s made, believing that pineapples and potatoes grow on trees and eggs are not from chickens but from rabbits ( Easter has something to do with this). To make matters worse, another study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture found that nearly 1 in 5 adults did not know that regular hamburgers are made from beef. To prove their point in 2020 people avoided buying Corona Beer which put the company in financial stress because of the fear that they’ll contract coronavirus from drinking the brew…….Ed
