More than 5300 people moved to Hamilton from 2020 to July 2021.
Major reasons for the increase were new Canadians selecting Hamilton and area because of family relations and internal movement, or people moving from elsewhere – specifically Toronto – due to high real estate prices.
Another reason for the high number moving to Hamilton, including Grimsby and Burlington, was due to the GO Transit System, which has been expanded over the last few years.
