Trivia Question

Q: Fewer Canadians are doing this than at any other time in history. What is it?
A: Having kids.

The total fertility rate (TFR) — which is the average number of children a woman would have in her lifetime — has dropped to record‑low levels:

In 2023, Canada’s fertility rate fell to about 1.26 children per woman, the lowest on record.

This is significantly below the population replacement level of 2.1, meaning that without immigration, the Canadian population would slowly decline over time.
