The City of Brantford and County of Brant have officially paused plans for a major municipal boundary adjustment involving the airport. Officials say the upcoming election leaves insufficient time to finalize details and provide a proper public review.
Peel Police are looking for two suspects accused of running an apartment rental fraud scheme that targeted multiple victims in Mississauga. Investigators say at least eight people lost $30,000 after sending e-transfer deposits for apartments that were never available. A man from Saskatoon and a man from B.C. are facing fraud charges.
Statistics Canada releases its latest Labour Force Survey for July this morning. A Reuters poll of economists expects Canada added 15,000 jobs last month after gaining 18,000 in June. They say the unemployment rate should remain at 6.5 percent.
A U.S. court has ordered Instagram and Facebook to pay $567 million to address harms their platforms are causing young people. The order came against Meta after a second phase of a landmark trial that the social media giant lost in March. Canada is already pursuing its own major legal actions against Meta, and this ruling provides a boost to those efforts.
