Kids back to school from the March break and politicians going back to work from the Christmas break. Ontario provincial members of Parliament heading back to Queen's Park today after taking the whole winter are off and part of the fall. Yep, the Ford government recessed the legislature December 11th for an unusually long 3 1/2 month break. Opposition calling it undemocratic. The spring session will see the budget delivered on Thursday, demonstrations over budget cuts planned outside of Queen's Park this week. Two Air Canada pilots were killed when their plane crashed into a rescue vehicle on a runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport as it was landing before midnight after a flight from Montreal. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said 41 people were taken to hospital. All but nine have been released. Some of the injured are in serious condition. The airport will stay closed until at least this afternoon. Six people, including a baby, taken to hospital yesterday after an SUV slammed into a GO Transit bus. Niagara police say it happened in the north end of St. Catharines, a 56-year-old from Kawartha Lakes facing impaired driving charges. And watching TV is getting more and more expensive. According to a new report, top streaming platforms charge Canadian customers 7% more in 2025 than the previous year, although according to the annual Couch Potato report, consumers are pivoting from traditional cable and satellite towards alternatives because they're cheaper. Sports, Raptors lost to Phoenix won 20.98. They'll be in Utah tonight at 9. Leafs were off last night. They're coming off back-to-back losses this week. They'll be in Boston tomorrow at 7. In the OHL, Branford lost to Brampton 6-1. Niagara beat Erie in overtime. Jays wrapped up the preseason blasting Tampa Bay 14-1. The next game is the home opener on Friday against the Athletics at 7.
