Halton police investigating 2 separate overnight shootings in Georgetown and asking the public for information. Officers say multiple shots fired at a home near 8th and 5th Side Road. They're also investigating another shooting at James Young Drive. Police say the home was damaged and parked vehicles were also shot at. Anybody with security camera footage has asked to contact police. Families in several parts of Ontario say they have nowhere else to go for help since roughly 4,000 community health and social workers stopped work in the spring. The workers went on strike while others were locked out. The union representing the striking workers said they're fighting for more funding as well as retroactive wage increases. A federal union warns public service cuts are weakening Canada's ability to respond to wildfires, floods and severe weather. It says about 1,600 workers in the Environment, Fisheries and Natural Resources Department lost their jobs between March 2025 and March of this past year, while several climate and weather programs were either reduced or eliminated. And A Kitchener man has pleaded guilty in the United States to four charges tied to a cyber attack that apparently compromised more than 165 organizations. Connor Muka and other hackers stole billions of sensitive records and demanded cryptocurrency ransoms. The 26-year-old reportedly received about a half a million from victims, faces a mandatory two-year sentence for aggravated identity theft, and up to 30 years on the remaining charges. Sports baseball yesterday, the Blue Jays edged Houston 5-4 and 10 innings, winning two out of three in that series. The Jays back to work this afternoon. They play one game in Chicago at 220.
