A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation after Hamilton police officers followed a key piece of evidence left inside the vehicle. Just before 8 A.m. on Tuesday, police were called to the area of Highway 8 and King Street East after reports of an abandoned vehicle blocking a live lane of traffic. Officers located an unoccupied black Ford Explorer with its hazard lights activated. Further investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Halton region earlier this month. While examining the vehicle, officers located what initially appeared to be an ordinary receipt local fast food restaurant. Officers attended the restaurant and reviewed CCTV footage, and a youth in the video was identified as the suspect. A credit ratings agency says wildfires in Northern Ontario do not appear to be translating into severe losses for Canada's insurance industry, but the situation still needs to be monitored closely. The report from Morningstar DBRS says the largest fires remain concentrated in remote areas, which limits the direct effect on property and commercial insurance claims. Early estimates suggest the flames have ravaged more of Ontario's forests this season than any previous year on record. Canada's premiers wrapped up two days of talks at their Council of the Federation gathering in Charlottetown. Today, they'll be joined by Prime Minister Mark Carney with the American trade war top of mind. Premiers remain united against the U.S. administration's new set of threatened 50% tariffs on many Canadian goods. BC Premier David Eby expressed frustration at U.S. levies that impact some Canadian industries and leave others untouched. He says America needs to decide what it wants. All premiers yesterday called on Ottawa to boost its share of health care funding and back major projects that can spur their economies. In sports, the Toronto Blue Jays dropped a fourth game in a row in a 4-2 loss to the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. Alejandro Kirk hit a 7th inning homer for Toronto, but the Blue Jays have scored just six runs in their past five games.
