As the tit-for-tat trade war with the U.S. has now turned into threats and personal insults, Canada appears to be the tat. The Kearney government has upped tariffs on U.S. steel and aluminum from 25 to 50% in retaliation for the U.S. imposing tariffs last week. The government will also impose 50% tariffs on clothing, apparel, 25% on appliances, dairy and seafood. And Ottawa also announced a $7.5 billion aid package for Canadian businesses is affected. Now Ontario's Premier has a news conference in Vaughan this morning. After making the rounds on US media yesterday, Premier Ford hinting it's time to de-escalate the trade tensions. And one of the world's most iconic and talented musicians has passed away. While no cause of death was disclosed, Dolly Parton's publicist said she died peacefully in Nashville.
