The dollar 71.08 cents U.S. Gas jumped 7 cents overnight to $1.71. I'm Stacey Englehart. Heat wave covers portions of Southern Ontario again today, but it looks like it will wind down for tomorrow. Environment Canada issued a yellow alert for Branford, Hamilton, Waterloo region and poor air quality as well because of smoke from forest fires. Firefighters in Norfolk County have been battling a massive fire that killed 20,000 pigs at a farm just west of Simcoe. According to officials, it's one of the largest pig farms in the province. Norfolk County was warning residents of poor air quality from the smoke. Hamilton police have arrested a suspect after a slew of stabbings in the city's downtown core. Police say at least four people were stabbed, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Anybody with information is asked to come forward. and the Bank of Canada will deliver its fifth interest rate decision of the year this morning. It's expected to remain on hold at 2.25%, while inflation has jumped above 3% in recent months because of high oil prices. The bank says, never you mind, we're going to look beyond reality and pretend that's not the case. But if there are signs of inflation spreading beyond the gas pumps, then they'll think about it. Could somebody get the Bank of Canada governor to do the groceries at least once so he could see what us regular folk who don't make a half $1,000,000 a year are living? Light 92 sports, the baseball All-Star game. AL beat the NL 4-0, the first shutout in 13 years. The Jays play again on Friday. The semi-finals at the FIFA World Cup. Spain blanked France 2-0, moves on to the final. They'll play either England or Argentina. That game is played at 3 this afternoon. And in the WNBA last night, the Toronto Tempo lost to Washington 79-62. Light 92 weather. Heat warning continues. We've got a mix of sun and cloud. Chance of showers, risk of a thunderstorm. It is going to be a bit on the smoky side. A humidex feeling in the low 40s. A few showers possible tonight. Thunderstorms as well. A low of 19. Still smoky tomorrow. But sunshine at least.
