Well, the federal government's going to spend more taxpayer money to appeal a Supreme Court lower decision that found the use of the Emergencies Act was unconstitutional. Government invoked the act in 2022 to stop protests in the nation's capital and at border crossings. But 2 years later, a federal court said the use of the law was breaching our charter rights. In January, a federal court of appeal affirmed that decision, but the feds are appealing it anyway. they didn't do anything wrong. A new report from the OPP said there's no evidence 3 Toronto police officers lied, colluded, or committed a criminal offense in the case of a man accused of fatally running over their colleague. Now, the three officers apparently testified in court, but what they said was contradicted by security footage. In her final instructions, Justice Ann Malloy told jurors they needed to consider the possibility there was collusion between the officers, noting all three had the same incorrect memory. Solo drivers in the province might soon be able to use the HOV lane during off-peak hours, according to the transport minister. Amendments are being proposed after modeling showed reduced travel times and gridlock easing. The government has not decided what hours would count as off-peak. and the province expanding tailgating rules beyond sporting events to allow people to bring their own alcohol. Starting this spring, organizers say farmers markets, art exhibits, movie screenings and neighborhood festivals can apply for BYOB permits.
