Six people from Brantford and Paris have been charged after the Brant Community Street Crime Unit launched a drug trafficking investigation. According to the expositor, police seized drugs, guns and money worth over 200,000. The six people arrested, three were from Branford, three were from Paris between the ages of 21 and 53. Police say five people were arrested after they stole 2 million worth of merchandise from an Amazon warehouse. Police in Durham said the investigation began last month after investigators were looking into two employees who allegedly stole merchandise over a two-year span. Police say three others were also arrested. OPP arrested 20 people, recovered more than 300 vehicles in what they're calling an organized crime network that spanned across the country and several countries. Police say they began investigating in 2023 after recovering 4 stolen vehicles in the GTA. They say freight companies use fraudulent documents to ship vehicles to several countries in the Middle East and Western Africa through ports in Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax. Prime Minister Kearney will host a virtual first ministers meeting with the country's premiers later today. But before the online gathering this afternoon, he'll meet in person with Premier Ford this morning in Ottawa. They're expected to sign a deal to reduce the regulatory burden on large projects, including the highway connecting the Ring of Fire. And while we're enjoying above average temperatures, Northern Ontario is getting blasted. Environment Canada said some regions could get upwards of 50 centimeters by tomorrow.
